DS-2108

Highly borated polyisobutenyl succinimide (PIB 950)

Boron at 1.0–1.3 % — a heavily borated dispersant that behaves as a genuine ashless antiwear component in its own right. Directly relevant to low-SAPS and driveline work.

The chemistry

Ashless Dispersants

Soot and sludge suspension in engine oils

Typical treat rate2.0 – 8.0 %

Polyisobutenyl succinimides — a polar head that binds contaminant, an oil-soluble PIB tail that keeps it suspended. This is the largest additive class by volume in any crankcase formulation. Borated grades add antiwear and improve seal and thermal performance; higher-TBN grades carry more acid-neutralising reserve.
