DS-2107

Borated polyisobutenyl succinimide (PIB 950)

Lightly borated. Boration ties up the free amine — better seal compatibility and an antiwear contribution on top of the dispersancy.

The chemistry

Ashless Dispersants

Soot and sludge suspension in engine oils

Typical treat rate2.0 – 8.0 %

Polyisobutenyl succinimides — a polar head that binds contaminant, an oil-soluble PIB tail that keeps it suspended. This is the largest additive class by volume in any crankcase formulation. Borated grades add antiwear and improve seal and thermal performance; higher-TBN grades carry more acid-neutralising reserve.
