DS-2102

Polyisobutenyl succinimide (PIB 950)

Grades a formulator would benchmark DS-2102 against. Naming them is not a claim of equivalence — it is where to start the comparison.

Soot and sludge suspension in engine oils

Typical treat rate2.0 – 8.0 %

Polyisobutenyl succinimides — a polar head that binds contaminant, an oil-soluble PIB tail that keeps it suspended. This is the largest additive class by volume in any crankcase formulation. Borated grades add antiwear and improve seal and thermal performance; higher-TBN grades carry more acid-neutralising reserve.
