EP-890

Bis-DMTD (2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole derivative)

Dual-function: extreme-pressure sulphur carrier and copper passivator in the same molecule. Very high sulphur content means low treat rates, which matters when you are trying to hold a viscosity target.

Active and inactive sulphur carriers that decompose at asperity contact temperatures and lay down an iron sulphide film. This is what stands between a gear tooth and scuffing failure. Sulphur activity level is the variable that decides yellow-metal compatibility.
